Fire Hydrant System

@

In addition to the water carried on the rescue and fire fighting vehicles, uninterrupted water supply is also provided in the form of a pit fire hydrant system running along the runways, taxiways and apron areas.  About 306 pit fire hydrants are installed within the airfield.

Each pit fire hydrant is fitted with 4 outlets providing a water flow of 8000 litres per minute at a minimum running pressure of 1.7 bars.  The system is designed to provide a minimum continuous water flow of 24000 litres per minute with three hydrants operating at the same time.
