Ambulance Service
The Ambulance Command operates a fleet
of 273 ambulances, 4 mobile casualty treatment centres,
four village ambulances and 35 ambulance-aid motorcycles.
The provision of full paramedic ambulance service to the
community has commenced since 28.2.2005.
In
2010, the Command responded to 687,133 ambulance calls -
representing an average of 1,696 calls a day, conveying
a total of 687,133 patients or casualties to hospital.
Most of the non-emergency
ambulance services were handled by the Hospital Authority. The non-emergency
ambulance service originated from private hospitals, Social Welfare
Department and Department of Health were handled by the Auxiliary
Medical Service.
