Duties of an Ambulanceman / Ambulancewoman

An Ambulanceman / Ambulancewoman is mainly deployed in emergency to carry out pre-hospital care service and ambulance duties; and driving ambulances, cars and vans. Ambulanceman / Ambulancewoman is subject to discipline and is required to work shifts and wear uniform.

Entry requirements

  • Education :
 
Starting Salary
(a)
have Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language, together with Grade E or above in three other subjects, in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; or

Point 4
(b)
have Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language, together with Grade E or above in one other subject, in the HKCEE, or equivalent.

[For civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to Level 3 and Level 2 respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE.]
Point 3
  • Be able to pass the Physical Fitness Test and Job-related Performance Test; and
  • Be able to speak fluent Cantonese.

    (Note : Candidates who are in possession of a valid Hong Kong Driving Licence is an advantage.)


Starting Salary

  • Point 3 to Point 4 of the General Disciplined Services (Rank & File) Pay Scale, as commensurate with respective entry qualifications.


Training

  • A Recruit Ambulanceman/Ambulancewoman has to undergo a 26-week residential initial training at the Fire Services Ambulance Command Training School.
