Fire Services
personnel will carry out a series of fire safety inspections
in housing estate markets on both sides of Victoria Harbour
next week.
A spokesman
for the Fire Services Department said today (January 25)
that, with the approach of the Chinese Lunar New Year, the
inspections were aimed at stepping up fire safety standards
in the markets and arousing the market
tenants' awareness of fire safety.
Stall owners
are advised not to pile up the goods at their stalls to
cause obstruction to common passageways and fire service
installations.
During the inspection,
Fire Services personnel will inspect the maintenance of
fire service installations in the markets. Fire safety advisory
letters will also be distributed to the market tenants to
remind them to take fire safety
precaution.
