The Hong Kong search and rescue team today (May 19) moved
to work among collapsed staff quarter buildings at Hanwang
in Mianzhu, Sichuan. During that time, the rescue team of
the Liberation Army found a female survivor in the rubble
and the HKSAR team helped move her to an ambulance.
"We were
very excited to be able to find a survivor eight days after
the disastrous earthquake," Senior Divisional Officer
of the Fire Services Department and leader of the HK search
and rescue team, Tam Tai-keung said.
"We will
grasp every opportunity and do our best to find remaining
survivors. The earthquake in Sichuan has given us the opportunity
to feel that Hong Kong is a part of China and that we are
just like family who will help each other when needed,"
he said.
