 Job Title:
Ambulanceman/Ambulancewoman
Salary :
General Disciplined Services (Rank and File) Pay Scale Point 4 ($14,685) to General Disciplined Services (Rank and File) Pay Scale Point 14 Note 1 ($20,340) per month.
Entry Requirements :
(1) have
Level 2 /Grade E or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent;
(The five subjects in HKCEE in (1) above may include Chinese Language and English Language.)
(2) meet the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 Note 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the HKCEE, or equivalent; and be able to speak fluent Cantonese; and
(3) be able to pass the Physical Fitness Test and Job-related Performance Test (please refer to Fire Services Department website or call the recruitment hotline for details).
[Possessing a valid Hong Kong driving licence is an advantage.]

[Note 2 : For civil service appointment purpose, Grade ‘C’ and Grade ‘E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in HKCEE of 2007 or thereafter.]

Duties :
An Ambulanceman/Ambulancewoman is mainly deployed on emergency ambulance service, carrying out pre-hospital care service and related ambulance duties; and on driving ambulances, cars and vans. Ambulanceman/Ambulancewoman is subject to discipline and is required to work shifts and wear uniforms.
Basic Law Knowledge Assessment:
For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, assessment of BL knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all civil service jobs. Candidates who are invited to attend the recruitment interview will be assessed on their BL knowledge through a written test to be conducted immediately before or after the recruitment interview. The BL test result will be one of the considerations to assess the suitability of a candidate.
Terms of Appointment :
New recruits will be appointed on prevailing probationary terms for 3 years and may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period. Before passage of probation bar, appointees should (a) pass an examination at the conclusion of the initial training course; (b) possess a valid Fire Services driving licence; and (c) pass the physical fitness assessment before confirmation.

General Notes :
