Ambulance Service

The Ambulance Command operates a fleet of 473 town ambulances, 6 Mini Ambulances, 47 Emergency Medical Assistant Motorcycles, 2 Rapid Response Motorcycles, 4 Multi-stretcher cum Personnel Carriers, 4 Rapid Response Vehicles, 2 Paramedic Equipment Tenders and 4 Mobile Casualty Treatment Centres to serve the community. The provision of full paramedic ambulance service to the community has commenced since 28.2.2005.

In 2022, the Command responded to 740,129 ambulance calls - representing an average of 2,028 calls a day, conveying a total of 648,442 patients or casualties to hospital.

Most of the non-emergency ambulance services were handled by the Hospital Authority. The non-emergency ambulance service originated from private hospitals, Social Welfare Department and Department of Health were handled by the Auxiliary Medical Service.
