Roles of Airport Fire Contingent

The Airport Fire Contingent (AFC) of the Hong Kong International Airport is a unit of the Hong Kong Fire Services Department providing 24-hour emergency service.  The Contingent is responsible for fire fighting and emergency rescue at all aircraft accidents at the airport and in the sea surrounding the airport.  On receipt of an emergency call relating to an aircraft accident, the rescue and fire fighting vehicles are required to achieve the response time of two minutes to the ends of each runway, and three minutes to other aircraft movement areas.
