YEUNG Yan-kin, Andy
Director of Fire Services
Welcome to the homepage of the Hong Kong Fire Services Department (FSD).
To deliver our mission which is to save those in distress and protect the community, we strive for improvements to perfect our work in firefighting, rescue, fire protection and ambulance. Confronted with the enormous challenges of the COVID-19 epidemic, we are making efforts to tackle them by strengthening command and coordination, streamlining working procedures, rendering assistance to frontline personnel and taking all feasible measures. Together with the whole community, we are doing our best to tide over the difficult times.
FSD has moved along with the rapid development of the society. In recent years, the city has flourished with a number of large-scale infrastructure projects which were built with the application of innovative designs and construction methods. In view of this, we expedite the approval and acceptance processes of inspecting fire service installations for buildings in a flexible and pragmatic manner. We also take the initiative to explore the wider use of innovative technologies in our work and speed up digital transformation by, for example, upgrading our mobilising system, procuring firefighting robots and developing software programs for handling multiple casualties incidents, to elevate service efficiency and quality.
Aligning with the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy has from time to time arranged visits for strengthening exchanges with our counterparts in the Greater Bay Area. These activities have not only helped raise the professional skills of both parties but also intensified cooperation among us, thereby enhancing overall preparedness and response to any emergencies in the Greater Bay Area.
On the front of safeguarding national security and preventing terrorist attacks, we proactively work with other relevant government departments to draw up operational strategies and also conduct joint operations and inter-departmental counter-terrorism exercises with a view to enhancing emergency response capability. FSD also makes all-out efforts in support of the Government's youth policy. By means of our youth uniformed group, namely “Fire and Ambulance Services Teen Connect” (FAST Connect) and a variety of social media, we aspire to instill in the young generation correct values and law-abiding concepts.
